Busch Series heads to Nashville

Reed Sorenson
Reed Sorenson captured last year's Pepsi 300 by 14.417 seconds.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The state of Tennessee, which has more active Busch Series race tracks than any other state (Bristol, Memphis and Nashville), will be the site of this week's event.

In last year's Pepsi 300, Reed Sorenson was easily the best car on the track leading 197 of 225 laps en route to a huge 14.417-second victory over Kenny Wallace. It was the first pole victory and first win of his Busch career.

But in 2006, no full-time Busch Series driver has made a trip to Victory Lane. In fact, the run of Nextel Cup drivers winning in the Busch Series dates back to the last time the series raced in the state of Tennessee.

The last win by a full-time Busch Series only driver was by Clint Bowyer (now a Nextel Cup rookie) in the Sam's Town 250 at Memphis Motorsports Park last October.

In the 10 races since then, only Nextel Cup drivers have made the additional left-hand turn into Victory Lane. More to the point, 67 of the last 100 top-10 finishers in the Busch Series have been Nextel Cup regulars.
